3 Weeks Passed Easily:

In June 2005 I had to pass the RKC Kettlebell Instructor Certification snatch test.

74 reps with website a 24kg kettlebell. Non-stop. One hand switch.

I trained specifically for it for three weeks.

That’s it.

Here’s why that was enough.

At the time I could Snatch Grip Deadlift 270kg from blocks just below my knees.

I was still training for Olympic lifting despite a major hip injury.

So 24kg was light.

My math was simple:

24kg times 74 reps equals 1,776kg of total work.

If I could do substantially more work with a 32kg - I’d be fine.

So I did 3 sets of 15 plus 15 with the 32kg. 90 reps. 2,880kg of total work.

Then I took the test.

Passed easily.

I didn’t build massive strength in those three weeks.

It was already there.

I simply applied what I already had to the task at hand.

Here’s the principle that explains it:

The stronger you are relative to a given load - the more potential you have to repeat it.

Capability before capacity.

Get stronger first. Then expand how much work you can do with that strength.
